Some people told me about the new signs of GaidoGrowth.com. I'll check them out when I drive around next time. Interesting info at the website mentioned:

What is the main reason that IUSD is under-funded? What is the elephant in the room for this issue? What can you do to help to solve the problem?
What is the main reason that IUSD is under-funded? What is the elephant in the room for this issue? What can you do to help to solve the problem?
Response: The mayor of Irvine meets with IUSD
board members regularly. I’ll have the city continue to contribute the IPSF,
and also work with IUSD to get more funds for the school. IUSD has the lowest
funding amount per student in the State of California for two main reasons:
1.
IUSD is put in the wrong category of Agriculture
for state funding allocation. Irvine is
NOT an agricultural area anymore. This is the elephant in the room, and the main cause of the funding shortage.
IUSD has been trying to fix this for the past 15 years by lobbying Sacramento,
but has NOT been successful. Maybe it is
time to play hardball with the State of California and force them to put
IUSD in the correct category for funding purpose. As the Irvine Mayor, I’ll
face the problem head-on, and be a problem-solver.
I’ll work with the city council to help IUSD fund this lawsuit in order to fix
the problem.
2.
Many students are
English Learners, but they are afraid to
check the box of English Learner on their registration form. As a result,
IUSD gets less funding from the
school because each English Learner is allotted more money than an average
student. We need to work with IUSD and make sure that students and their
parents understand this. English Learners need to tell the truth in order to
get proper funding for IUSD.

Response to a Question from Kathie
Response to a Question from Kathie
Question
from Kathie:
The State Auditor claims that
the Orange County Great Park lacked transparency and fairness in overseeing the
consultants who worked on it. The standards under which Irvine chose to conduct
the review were less rigorous than industry standards that ensure independent
analysis. Also, the city didn’t follow its policies for awarding a key contract
related to the review and allowed consultants to start work without final
approvals, which led to excessive costs. As Mayor, what are you going to do
about this? Thank you very much…
Response:
Kathie,
You are right. Career
politicians have turned the Great Park into the biggest
scandal in Irvine history. See the link:
If I am elected as the Mayor
of Irvine, I will:
1.
Implement all the
suggestions in the OC Great Park Grand Jury Report. See the link:
2. Make sure big money and special interests groups
can no longer have a party and steal or waste our taxpayer money. Gaido is a sidekick for Larry Agran,
who was in charge of the city from 2002 to 2012 and is mainly responsible for
the Great Park. So, if we elect Gaido,
we are bringing back the same Agran team that created the Great Park disaster.
3.
Use my decades of experience
in design and construction as a licensed architect in California to make sure the
Great park is built. Career politicians turned the Great Park into the biggest
scandal in Irvine history. Industry standards for overhead and profit for a
construction project is typically 10% to 20% of the overall cost, and yet the Great Park’s overhead and profit is over 50%. Less
than half of the 251 million dollars was spent was on design and construction
of the Great Park, 43 million dollars went missing, and 46 million dollars was
wasted on a set of construction plans that were never used. How can the career politicians waste the 46 million dollars? How did they go so far before
they realized the mess? The Great Park project’s scope should have been
adjusted at the schematic stage if the project was over the budget, and they
should NOT have wasted 46 million dollars to create a set of plans that they could
NOT afford to build.
4.
Stop
the career politicians and special interest groups and protect you, our taxpayers’ interest in the Great Park.
NO Gaido, NO come back for Agran, and NO special interest
groups.
On November 8, please vote for me, Gang Chen, for a real change. Together, we can make Irvine better. I’ll be honored to have your vote.
